Offline translation runs entirely on your device — fast, private, decent quality for straightforward dialogue. Pro uses a cloud LLM that understands tone, character relationships, and context you provide. The difference is most visible on dramatic scenes, slang, and anything where word-for-word translation sounds wrong.
Three things: OCR is trained on comic fonts and vertical Japanese — the things generic translators get wrong. Translation renders inside the speech bubbles, not in a separate panel. And you can trigger it from inside any app you're already reading in, without switching apps.
Yes to all. Source languages include Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). Japanese OCR is the most optimized, but Korean manhwa and Chinese manhua work the same way.
Every bubble is detected and translated independently, so duplicate text doesn't happen. Pages process as a batch with a progress indicator — you always know what's happening. If a translation fails, the bubble is left as the original rather than wiped blank.

Offline translations never leave your device. For Pro cloud translations, only the detected text is sent — never the full manga image. Story context you provide is used for that session and isn't stored long-term or used for training.
EasyComix translates any image you give it. We don't host, link to, or recommend any specific source. Where you read is up to you — the app works equally well on a page you scanned from a volume you own, a PDF you bought, or a screenshot from anywhere.
